A Michelin starred chef has blasted a British restaurant blogger’s review with ‘vulgar language’ when she complained about a highly priced meal.

Samantha Wood, 39, was shocked when she got a reply from chef de cuisine Andrea Brambilla, responding to her review of Dubai’s Meydan Beach Club, an offshoot of three Michelin star restaurant Giannino in Milan.

Mr Brambilla told Miss Wood to ‘wear first a condom on your tongue in order contain the orgasm of your ignorance’ after she blogged about a meal she and friend Italian chef Maurizio Pelli had at the restaurant which cost them more than £200.

While Miss Wood’s post on her blog foodiva.net praised the food, a two–course meal as well as a shared dessert and two glasses of prosecco, but complained about the prices and authenticity of the Milanese dishes.

She wrote: ‘Now for the bad news, prices are extortionate with our primi piatti starters at AED 130 – 160 [£22-27] (antipasti is similarly priced), and mains AED 170 – 250 [£29-42] each!’

In a lengthy response, the chef wrote: ‘…Don’t forget to wear first a condom on your tongue in order contain the orgasm of your ignorance.

‘All the above is direct also to all “professors” that without having a clue of what they are talking about keep writing, twitting, facebooking.

‘Guys get a life!’

Miss Wood was stunned by his response and wrote in reply: ‘Sadly rather than constructive comments about a restaurant experience, this post has encouraged a debate on your rather vulgar language and with that in mind I will take the higher ground and refrain from responding to those specific points.

‘I do want to thank you for driving tremendous traffic to FooDiva though – much appreciated.

‘Now if you will allow me, I must “get a life” and return to “twitting”.’

She tried to explain to Mr Brambilla her review. She posted: ‘In all fairness, my main issue with the dining experience was the price – the food did in fact impress as I emphasised – all kudos to the chef and kitchen team.

‘A restaurant review is hugely subjective which is why I always aim to be constructive and balanced, whilst encouraging feedback from my readers.’

Miss Wood told the Telegraph: ‘Most of the chefs I know – many of them global celebrity names – would never treat food writers and bloggers, let alone customers, like that. It sets a bad example for the industry.'

Andrew Christon, the manager of Dubai's Meydan Beach Club, which hosts the restaurant, said of Mr Brambilla: ‘His opinions are his own and are in no way representative of our team.’

Beach Club in Dubai? I'd rather nail my ear to the floor! I can think of countless bistros across Europe where you'd get a decent traditonal meal and a good wine for £25.00!

Didn't the menu have prices next to the offerings? Or does that not happen in the world of the rich? If not - suckers!!!

No food is ever worth the price Michelin starred chefs charge, they just pander to the gullible who think spending £25 on a sprout makes it that much better.

well you can't expect a michelin starred meal to be the price of a wetherspoons pub lunch can you? Its normally entirely possible to find out prices before you go to a restaurant and if its not within your means...don't go. A review should focus on the food

If you can dish it out you need to be able to take it.

Don't think I will ever be able to see or hear anything about this man in the future without thinking about this, so I for one will pass on anything to do with him. No matter how good he might be I will always associate him with distaste. Not very good for business I shouldn't think, here's one customer he's lost.

Usually this sort of food is highly expensive pretentious claptrap made for those who have more money than sense. The food equivalent of Tate Modern art.
